Blog pieces and blog content are great to show-up fast in searches and to place your ideas in front of people quickly. Search engines simply love blog content. Why? Several reasons.
Blogs are forever being added to, are usually short and sweet, and generally very relevant and to the point as far as subject matter and keywords are concerned. Just what people want, and search engines serve up. They are time-efficient.
Blog content is generally a more concise snapshot of the bigger picture, and therefore exactly what most busy people want to read. They attract attention and are easy to share with others. Blog pieces are also easier reading, by and large less formal. This is an asset.

GOOGLE owns Blogger.com, a huge site that hosts blogs. Naturally, GOOGLE will locate and index pieces on these blogs quickly. They certainly crawl their own Google+ website constantly. It is a win-win proposition to blog on Blogger and then post it upon Google+ - no question!
